Tres Rivieres
On Thursday we left montreal and drove up to Quebec City along the St. Lawarance. On the way we stoped In Trois-Rivieres we took a tour in one of the oldest prisons here in canada. Built in 1822 by Francois Baillarge... Here are some photos from inside the prison...

A former inmate himself, Bill, gave us our own V.I.P. tour into the Prison...He was seriously THE coolest guide ever :)
Words written from prisoners inside the french walls ( its probably better if you cant read french )...
"This is the Dark room." Prisoners were sometimes chained standing up for 10 days at a time...no food....no water... dirt floor...freezing conditions (bill standing at enterance)...
The Prison originally concieved to house around forty inmates, the prison was sometimes packed with more than a hundred. Even today, similar unacceptable penal conditions-some even worse, oersist aroiund the wolrd.
The unhealthy conditions of the prison led to many renovations over the years. Before closingin 1986 Trois-Rivieres Old Prison was the oldest functional corretions establishment in Canada.
